Newbiemains celebrate success at Stars of the Future Calf Show

Jim and Patricia Goldie celebrated a string of success at the Stars of the Future Calf Show, held at United Auctions, Stirling, on 15th November, under judge Hector Mcaskill. Leading the way in the senior championship and on her first show outing was Newbiemains Elegance. This one is by Blackford Albatross, sire of the Goldie family’s 8000gns Leading Ladies heifer. She’s out of Monaduff Red Ruby.

Reserve to her following through from the senior heifer championship was Anne MacPherson at the halter of Blackford Echo. This one was calf champion at Turriff Show and is a Curlieu Knight daughter out of Blackford Allegro, herself a former Stars of the Future champion.

In the senior male championship it was the Goldie family again at the top, this time with Newbiemains Eddie Rocket, another by Albatross out of Rathlee Vixen. This one will head to Stirling in February. Reserve to him was Hugh Brunton with Crudie Enzo, an Islavale Brilliant son, born September 2013 out of Delfur Weigela B31.

The Goldie’s then celebrated further success in the junior championship and standing top for them was Newbiemains Fancy Pants, a Kilbride Farm Rainman daughter out of Innerwick Charlotte.

Then in reserve to her was Gary Patterson’s Drumpark Rosebud 3rd, a Banwy Wonderboy daughter out of Skerrington Rosebud 58th. Rainman has previously sired bulls to a top of 10,000gns and has bred three National Junior Female champions.

In the junior males the overall champion came from Michael Durno in the form of Auchorachan Facebook, a Rabawn Caesar King son out of Auchorachan Autumn, while in reserve was William Young’s Skerrington Franklyn, a son of the former Highland Show champion Sowenna Aristocract and out of Skerrington Rhona 32nd, winner of the first class of senior bulls.

In the young handlers classes, top spot in the junior class was Daffyd Gwynne, Robbie Wills stood second and in third was Frank Gwyne. In the senior class, Emma McAllister won the class and then in the interbreed young handlers class, Daffyd Gwynne was second overall.
