AN OUTSTANDING SHOW PRODUCES HIGH AVERAGES AT BRISTOL
The current trend for buying Simmental
cattle continued at the annual sale of held at Bristol Sale
Centre. The market for heavier quickly finished cattle has
seen the Simmental in big demand over the past year and looks
set to continue. This week saw the averages at Bristol soar
in comparison to previous years and a much improved show
of quality cattle, particularly the females, was welcomed
by a packed ringside. The bulls averaged £3116 for the 17 sold showing a massive
increase of £764.
With the addition of a very good reduction
sale from Mr. M. J. Boucher’s Loxton Herd, Axbridge and
a small dispersal from Mr. J.N. Hoskin’s, Sabre Herd
from Apperley in Gloucestershire , there was a keen interest
in the females and several new buyers had their pick of a very
good turnout of cattle. Ultimately the female average, outwith
the dispersals, soared to £1615
for the 42 sold, an increase of £336 on the year compared
to 18 sold the previous year to average £1279.25.
