Simmental average on the up at Perth sales
A TOP quality entry of Simmental bulls at Perth saw 105 head average £3,437 - up £637 on last year, when 101 were sold.
The top price of 15,000 guineas was for the supreme champion,
the April 2002 Blackford Nobleman, from Bill MacPherson, Blackford,
Croy, Inverness. This bull, with exceptional performance figures,
sold to Tony Hurn, Beck, Norwich.
At 10,000gns the reserve supreme champion, the January 2002 Sterling
Nelson from Boddington Estates, Cheltenham, was sold in a joint
deal to John Young, Skerrington Mains, Kilmarnock, and Lachlan
Quarm, Alnwick House, Irvine.
Five bulls sold at 7,000gns: from Gerald Smith, Drumsleed, Laurencekirk
to Blair Castle Estates, Blair Atholl; Finlay McGowan, Incheoch,
Blairgowrie, to R H Widdecome, Ashprington, Totnes, Devon; P & M
Forrester, Upper Drumgley, Forfar to J & IM Sinclair, Haquoy,
Orkney; David Donnelly, Hulland Ward, Derby, from Caroline and
Gillian Greenhill, Craighill Dundee; and Marshall Farms, Concraig,
Kintore, Aberdeen, from Finlay McGowan.
