The Annual Society Sale of Simmental cattle met very good trade at Worcester on Saturday 7th May when 146 head were sold including the dispersal of the Crackley herd on behalf of M/S Booth and Bell.
Topping the day's trade was the pre-sale show's Male and Overall Champion Alchester Frankylnbred by Mr J Shouler, Elm Tree Farm, Wendlebury, Bicester, Oxfordshire, OX25 2QA. Selling at 4000gns was Heywood Flintoff bred by Mr D M Barker, Manor Barn, Heathfield, Taunton, Somerset, TA4 1DL. A Popes Barclay son out of a Dirnanean Typhoon daughter, he was purchased by Mr C M Mercer, No 1 Unit, Bowley Court Farms, Hope-Under-Dinmore, Leominster, Herefordshire, HR6 0PL.
Then at 3300gns was Killiworgie George bred by Mr S A Gummow of Higher Killiworgie Farm, Blackcross, Newquay, Cornwall, TR8 4LU. This Keeldrum Clio son out of a Lakeside Warrior daughter was purchased by G H French & Son of Corringdon Farm, South Brent, Devon, TQ10 9HN.
The top priced female from the show ring was the Champion Lopemede Genevieve bred by J Rixon Ltd, Lopemede Farm, Thame, Oxfordshire, OX9 3SH. This Hestehaven Fenrik daughter out of a Glebehill Nut daughter sold for 2550gns to H Curtis & Sons of Stanton Wick Farm, Pensford, Nr Bristol, BS39 4DB
Second top price shown female was Bosahan Goya Tresor from Mr & Mrs J Olds, The Farmhouse, Bosahan Farm, Constantine, Falmouth, TR11 5QB. This Skerrington Armada daughter out of a Blackford Falcon daughter sold for 1900gns to J Gregory & A Lugg of Kerling Farm, Kerley, Chacewater, Truro, TR4 8LH.
From the Killiworgie reduction of Mr S A Gummow of Higher Killiworgie Farm, Blackcross, Newquay, Cornwall, TR8 4LU, Killiworgie Bo Peep, a Lakeside Warrior daughter out of a Corskie Reward daughter sold for3700gns with her heifer calf at foot to Barry Harding of Cornerfields Farm, Hollybush Lane, Denham, Uxbridge, Bucks, UB9 4HB.
A large crowd gathered for the dispersal of the Crackley herd following the untimely passing of David Bell.
Sale topper was the herd's stock bull Curaheen Cochise selling for 2650gns to Sandhill Farm, Sandhill, Highworth Road, Shrivenham, Swindon, Oxfordshire.
Selling for 2250gns was Crackley Cornelia 87C with her calf at foot. This Lamhoj Supery daughter out of a Vingegard Texas daughter was purchased by G D Swerling & Son of Upper Bottom House Farm, Bottom House Farm Lane, Chalfont St Giles, HP8 4EG.
Also selling at 2250gns was Crackley Iris 77C and her calf at foot, a Lamhoj Supery daughter out of a Farnborough Trickster daughter, she was sold to E Piggin of Cross Oaks Farm, Eastwellow, Romsey, Hampshire, SO51 6DR.
Again, selling for 2250gns was Crackley Cornelia 92D and her calf at foot. This Tiset Darwin daughter out of a Crackley Klassic daughter was purchased by Wood Farm Partners of Wood Farm, Wood Hill, Newgale, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.
Next, selling at 2150gns with her calf at foot was Crackley Cornelia 60S, this Langmose Triton daughter out of a Wroxall Luke daughter was purchased by A J Jones of Crown Farm, Old Monmouth Road, Raglan, Gwent, NP15 2UE.
