Topped off with the record price being smashed for Simmental bulls when Bel Dhu Capercaillie, Senior and over-all Champion sold for 45,000gns, purchased jointly by Society President and judge for the day Iain Green and Andy Anderson of Smallburn Farms. Capercaillie was by Hockenhull Waterloo out of a Kilbride Farm Strabane daughter, bred by Miss Anne MacPherson, Blackford, Croy, Inverness.

Nest best was Islavale Chip, Reserve Senior and Reserve over-all champion from W. S Stronach, Grange, Keith, Banffshire a Glenturk Premier son out of a Kilbride farm Newry daughter, selling for 12,000gns to C R Fovargue Bros, Bottom Farm, Farm Town, Coleorton, Coalville Leicester.

In total 121 bulls sold and increase of 2 on the year to average £5665 with a clearance of 79%, the breeds second highest spring sale average.

Commercial trade was brisk, 9 bulls sold to 10,000gns or above with 3 of these purchased for Commercial use, an indication of the commitment from Commercial suckler herds to invest in quality bulls.

Next at 11,000gns was Annick Clansman, from Mr L D Quarm, this Skerrington Visa son out of a Sterling Nelson 2nd daughter is off to Aberdeenshire for Commercial use.

Firstly Drumsleed Casino from Mr G W Smith, Drumsleed, Fourdon, Laurencekirk, Aberdeenshire, this Ashland Perfect son out of a Craighill Laser daughter is off to Orkney from Commercial use.

Also selling at 10,500gns was Corskie Cannon from Mr J Green, Corskie, Garmouth, Fochabers, this Islavale Sabre son out of a Popes Laird daughter was purchased by G & A Christie (Rockytop) Midtown of Glass, Huntly, Aberdeenshire.

Female trade was also very brisk with 5 selling at 5000gns or above. best was from the Corskie herd of MR J Green, Corskie, Garmouth, Fochabers, at 6000gns Corskie Buffy a Ballinalare Farm Nightrider daughter, out of a Burghbridge Lane daughter sold to MR A Tallentire (Swingletree) High Griseburn, Gt Asby, Appleby, Cumbria.

Champion female, Denizies Cadette 29th from MA Barlow, Four Oaks, Ulnes Walton Lane Preston, this Ashland Tornado daughter out of a Pasturefields Hartshorne daughter selling to Mr W J Hollingsworth (Midhope) Midhope Hall Farm Sheffield.

Mr Hollingsworth paid 5000gns twice more firstly, for Boars Head Grace 7th form MR R J Grenham, Boars Head Farm, Boars Head, Crowborough. a Seaview Prince Charming daughter out of a Sway Harvest daughter.
