Chairman’s Report

In summary the chairman reported that the club had held a quiz at last year’s AGM which was very well supported.  We held our annual dinner at the King Charles Restaurant in Worcester with speaker David Edwards.  Kenilworth Show was attended by several members which was good to see.  At the last Royal Show, numbers of Simmentals were also high and he congratulated Boddingtons on their success.  Our farm walk this year, by kind permission of Dave and Nikky Field, was held at Burytown Simmentals and the Chairman thanked them both for their hospitality.  This year’s herd competition was judged by Danny Wyllie.  The club’s Calf show was extremely well attended and was judged by David Barker.  The Christmas meal once again had record numbers in attendance and was also a great success.

Treasurers Report

The club started out the year with £1891.50 in the bank account and finished with £2218.70

Committee Elections

The following officers and committee members were elected

Chairman John Rixon
Vice Chairman Jimmy McMillan
Secretary  Nikky Field
Treasurer John Fellows

Committee Members:  David Bell, Judith Cockerill, Robert Hewlett, Paul Radburn, Dave Savins, Ellen Rixon, Mark Sallis and Darren Daft, Dave Field, Pete Burgess and Sam Evans.

Other events throughout the year

The club’s Annual Dinner had not yet been booked and it would be discussed at the next committee meeting.

Any Other Business

John Fellows explained that if the club was to purchase some numbers for all entrants to use at the Stock Show it would make the job of stewarding so much easier, this would be discussed at the next meeting.  He also said we were yet to receive an invoice from Cirencester Market for the use of this facility so this would need bearing in mind when looking at the financial figures for 2009.

Dave Field questioned the high bank charge the club was incurring.  John Fellows explained that we get charged for every single cheque and withdrawal the club makes, which all adds up throughout the year.  It was suggested that this should be looked into to see if there was any chance of reducing these in the future.

David Bell commented on the very low numbers (14) of paid up club members.  This would also be discussed at the next committee meeting to try and improve this situation.

John Rixon thanked Pete Burgess for all his energy and enthusiasm during his term as Chairman. He also thanked Sam Evans for all her hard work and efforts during her time as secretary.

Date of Next Meeting

No date was set for the next committee meeting.

Meeting closed.
