Society fees list
We have been receiving more than one batch of registrations per
month, per member. ABRI advise us that to get the most benefit
from the on-line system just one batch per member should be submitted
per month.
Please note that once you have created a batch you
are able to keep adding registrations to that batch throughout
the month and save them until you have completed all your registrations
for that month. Once they are all added then the batch can be transmitted.
NB:
Please ensure that you transmit the batch no later than the 29th
of the month if a 30 day month and the 30th of the month if a
31 day month. If on-line registrations are not received by the
close of business on the last working day of the month they automatically
fall into the following month.

• The following
pricing matrix and late penalties will apply to all members who
are
registering calves under these circumstances.

DNA - SIRE’S PROFILE If the Sire
is no longer available to take tail hairs and semen is not available
to obtain a DNA profile the Animal Health Trust have advised
the following criteria to obtain a profile of the Sire:-
To
obtain a Sire DNA profile if the Sire is no longer alive and
semen is not available, we would need a number of calves sired
by that bull together with the corresponding dams. We can then
subtract out the contribution of the dam from the calf's profile
leaving the sires profile. Because each calf only receives half
the sire's DNA and in fact also half the dam's DNA it is necessary
to do a number of dam-calf combinations in order to approximate
the complete profile of the sire. Basically the more calf-dam
combinations you can provide the more accurate the sire's profile
would be but I would not recommend doing less than 5 calf-dam
sets.
Therefore the Society would like to advise
members that a minimum of five calves sired by the said bull,
plus their dam’s will need to be DNA typed in order to
obtain a sire DNA profile. To avoid this extra expense the Society
advise all members to get all stock bulls DNA typed before they
are sold on, or taken off farm for any other reason. Please also
advise any potential purchasers of this requirement when you
sell bulls that will be used on pedigree herds.
DNA
RESULTS The results for a DNA profile can take
up to 4/6 weeks from receipt of the tail hair. The Society is
notified of the result and at that point invoices are issued
to the members for the DNA charge. Any calf registrations on
hold subject to DNA profile of the sire are then released and
the certificates are sent out.
NB: If you do
not receive an invoice charging you for the DNA profile after
8/10 weeks from sending in the tail hair sample, please contact
Selina at the Society office in order that she can check with
the Animal Health Trust that the sample has been received. Samples
have been known to go astray in the post and therefore it is
most important members keep a track of their submitted DNA samples.
DNA – HOMOZYGOUS BULLS For pedigree
certificates to indicate that an animal is Homozygous polled
it must have been proven by DNA testing. These tests are available
via Animal Health Trust & Merial. If you have any animals
that need to be DNA tested for this qualification, please contact
the Society office for further information.
EMBRYO ET1 FORMS EMBRYO ET1 FORMS We
would like to take this opportunity to remind our members that
the Society Rules are that an ET1 form must be received into the
Society office no later than 28 days after the flush date. Forms
received after 28 days of the flush will be subject to a late fee
of £10.00 per calendar month.
