The World Simmental Fleckvieh Federation was founded in 1974 and
is today, with thirty member countries, the largest cattle federation
of it's kind in the world.

The Simmentaler in southern
Africa has a rich and colorful history. South West Africa, now Namibia was the
first country outside Europe, to establish the breed successfully. The first
imports were in 1893, by the then German Government, to improve the milk and
meat qualities of the indigenous cattle.

Over the past 30 years, the Simmental breed has grown in popularity,
fast becoming one of the most influential cattle breeds in Canada.
Australian Simmental Breeders Association Ltd
was formed in 1971 with the purpose of developing the Simmental
breed in Australia on behalf of its members. It is now widely referred
to as "Simmental Australia".
Organisationally, the Danish Simmental Society leads the Danish breeding
work with the Simmental breed. The Society was founded in 1975 soon
after that the first Simmental cattle had been imported to Denmark.
